Derash

Terms of use

The short version: money moves directly between donors and beneficiaries, Derash verifies and displays the record, and everyone must be honest.

What Derash is

Derash (ደራሽ) is an information and verification platform. Campaign creators publish a story and a payout account; donors send money directly to that account using Telebirr or a bank; Derash verifies submitted transaction references against payment providers and displays verified totals.

Derash is not a payment processor, escrow service, or money transmitter. We never hold, receive, or transmit donated funds. All transfers happen on the payment provider's rails, under the payment provider's own terms.

Donations are direct and final

  • A donation is a direct transfer from you to the beneficiary's account. Derash cannot reverse, refund, or redirect it.
  • Verification confirms that a payment arrived at the campaign's payout account — it is not a guarantee of how the beneficiary will use the money.
  • Submitting a transaction reference that is not yours, or attempting to count the same payment twice, is prohibited.

Campaign creators

  • Everything in a campaign — the story, the beneficiary, the goal — must be truthful and current.
  • The payout account must belong to the named account holder, and its holder must match the identity document presented at review.
  • The payout account is locked when a campaign is approved; changing it requires a new review.
  • Creators must cooperate with review, including making the beneficiary available to confirm the campaign.

Review and removal

Every campaign is reviewed by a person before going live. We may pause, close, or remove a campaign, decline to verify a donation, or suspend an account at any time when we believe something is untruthful, unlawful, or harmful — including on the basis of public reports. Verified donation records are retained even when a campaign is removed.

Prohibited use

  • Fraudulent, misleading, or impersonating campaigns.
  • Campaigns for unlawful purposes under Ethiopian law.
  • Automated scraping or bulk submission that degrades the service.
  • Interfering with verification, review, or rate limits.

Liability

Derash provides the platform "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for the conduct of campaign creators or beneficiaries, for payment provider failures, or for losses arising from a donation itself — which is, always, a direct transaction between donor and beneficiary. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes, law, and contact

We may update these terms; the date above changes when we do. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Questions: legal@derash.example
